ABOUT CHRISTINE
I grew up drawing and painting in Redlands, Ca. I wanted to be an animator or comic book illustrator until I tried painting with acrylics during high school.
At the age of 19 I painted my first large scale mural at the Frugal Frigate Childrens Bookstore in downtown Redlands. The owner, then Katherine Thomerson, asked me to paint a mural on her storefront. I tried it and loved it. I painted vines climbing up the building and life-sized people reading books. People passing by asked me if I would paint art on their buildings, and my mural career grew from there.
Since then, my mural clientele has included the Cities of Redlands and Riverside, Loma Linda University, the San Bernardino Police Department, and many other businesses, homes and schools throughout the inland area.
While painting murals part-time I attended painting classes at community college and transferred to Otis College of Art + Design in Los Angeles.
In 2007 I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otis. During classes and internships I worked with notable artists including Kent Twitchell, Peter Zokosky, and Suzanne Lacy. I assisted muralist Twitchell in the restoration of two of his large freeway murals. I also worked with an art conservator to help restore an Alfredo Ramos Martinez fresco mural which is now in the Coronado Library near San Diego. These experiences made an impact on the quality of my murals and oil paintings.
MURAL INFORMATION
I hand-paint all of my murals with high quality, non-toxic acrylic polymer paints and mediums. I include a protective clear coating or an anti-graffiti coating for exterior murals.
